How to Choose Cleaning Supplies for Floors

Different floor surfaces require different cleaning supplies and methods as well as varying degrees of necessary maintenance. Whether you have plush carpet, glossy hardwood or hard wearing concrete, it is important to find the maintenance solutions that guarantee the best results, with minimum effort, on your floors.

                                                      Polished Floorboards
Polished floorboards are a notoriously sensitive surface and should be treated with care. Use gentle products such as microfibre dust mops, diluted methylated spirits and a dry towel to thoroughly sweep, wash and dry your floorboards. You should also keep spot cleaning supplies on hand to deal with spills before they have a chance to become a stain on your hard wood floors.

            Carpets
Various measures can be taken to keep your carpets looking lush and fresh. You can use specialised carpet cleaning supplies such as soil retardants to deter debris from sinking into newly laid carpets as well as a high powered vacuum for regular maintenance

Stained Carpets
More intensive cleaning supplies may be needed when your carpet becomes soiled and stained. Keep cleaning supplies such as a carpet pre-treater on hand to prevent stains from taking hold, and use a steaming machine with a high quality carpet detergent when needed.

Concrete
Concrete floors may seem like the ideal low maintenance flooring solution, but if concrete is not sealed fully, it needs to be maintained carefully to avoid damage and dirt build up. To get heavy stains out of concrete, it is often necessary to use a range of chemical solutions, each formulated to lift out different substances such as grease, latex, oil and harsh chemicals.

How to Choose Dish Washing Kitchen Equipment

Choosing kitchen equipment usually involves a lot of research, comparisons and reviewing before you make a purchase. Appliances such as ovens and stove tops aren't cheap, and you definitely don't want them to break down just as you have a large meal to prepare or a group of guests waiting at the door.

Dish washing kitchen equipment, too needs to be robust enough to provide years of daily use. In most homes the dish washing kitchen equipment includes a sink, drying rack and dishwasher, as well as different detergents, powders, sponges and scourers. While many of these items can be used up and swapped for different products, the plumbing fixtures and dishwasher need to be chosen for ergonomics, comfort, energy efficiency, and water conservation.

When looking for dish washing kitchen equipment in Melbourne, remember to check the energy and water efficiency of each product. As with all heavy duty home appliances, all dishwashers are sold with stickers indicating the energy efficiency of the machine. You should keep in mind, however, that these stickers only show the capacity of the dishwasher for efficiency, as an efficient machine used in a careless way can still waste large volumes of energy and water.

Another factor you should also keep in mind when choosing dish washing kitchen equipment for the home is noise and vibration. Many people like to stack and switch on the dishwasher just before going to bed, so that the space is cleared up and tidy when they wake in the morning. This is only possible with a low noise machine that causes little disruption to your home.

Should You Choose Loose Utensils or Cutlery Sets?

Are you looking to fill out the holes in your cutlery drawer for formal occasions or do you simply want a quick solution for a new home and dining set? Utensils sets are an easy and economical choice when you want all of your cutlery to match, but they might not contain all of the pieces you were after. Whether you choose loose utensils or a full collection, you should select all utensils in a classic style that suits your other tableware.

Different cutlery sets are available for a variety of different purposes and applications, from everyday dining to formal table settings and even camping. Loose utensils, however, provide great versatility and a huge range, as you can select anything from soup spoons to cake forks, dessert knives and steak knives.

Many households find that owning two different cutlery sets, which can be switched around for different occasions is a useful solution to the problem of balancing between various cutlery requirements. You might want to buy a basic collection for your home, and select numerous loose utensils perfect for entertaining and special events.

It can also be useful to choose loose utensils designed to be used in specific situations, from food preparation to dining. Where sets can provide a good basic foundation for your dining table, some pieces, such as sharp kitchen knives, need to be chosen much more carefully. If, on the other hand, you want high design and precision at all times in your kitchen, then a seven or ten piece collection of high quality is the only way to go.

How to Choose Protective Clothing for Cleaning Supplies

Many cleaning applications, both in the home and in industry, require certain safety measures and protective procedures to make sure you do not harm yourself while making the area safe and habitable for other people. You probably already have a couple of pairs of rubber gloves under the kitchen sink at home, but have you ever thought about the more comprehensive protective accessories needed when dealing with corrosive cleaning supplies and particularly unhygienic areas?

In applications such as the pharmaceutical, scientific research and medical industries, it is often necessary to use whole body protective clothing, along with the more widely used cleaning supplies such as antibacterial solutions and detergents. Even when full body protective measures aren't needed, heavy duty rubber gloves are considered to be an essential maintenance accessory in most industrial applications.

Maintenance supplies such as rubber gloves, sleeves and other protective layers need to be used and maintained properly in order to maintain an effective barrier. It is necessary, for example, to use the right thickness of glove for the application, and to ensure that concentrated chemicals are not left to sit on the rubber for extended periods of time. Washing your protective clothing after use with your cleaning supplies will enhance their protective qualities and increase their working life.

Whenever you use a new chemical solution, you should consult the safety and warnings label, to see if it should be used with any form of protective clothing. Many cleaning supplies can bleach skin and fabric, so you may simply want to invest in an apron or smock to wear over your normal clothes while scrubbing or washing.
